v2.3.0 ยท Changelog

Version 2.3.0

Droneforge changelog notes for the v2.3.0 release.

Droneforge NimbusOS Desktop v2.3.0 is a reliability and setup polish release.

The short version: flights should be safer, setup should need less manual work, and route following should feel more dependable.

TLDR

  • Better flight safety checks, including stronger automatic stop behavior for tilt and upside-down cases.
  • More reliable return-home behavior after state resets.
  • Smoother waypoint planning for faster, more stable route execution.
  • More dependable board detection, flashing, and binding feedback during setup.
  • Automatic VRX channel detection, so users do not need to set that manually.
  • Early groundwork for broader platform support, including ARM64 Debian testing and Windows flashing fixes.

Safer flight behavior

v2.3.0 improves automatic stop behavior for difficult edge cases, including when the drone is upside down.

Return-home behavior is also more reliable after a state reset, helping Nimbus preserve the correct home position during a flight session.

Better route following

Waypoint behavior has been improved for real-world drift.

If the drone briefly moves outside a waypoint threshold, Nimbus is better at continuing the route instead of restarting progress too aggressively. The waypoint planner has also been updated for smoother, faster movement.

Easier setup

Setup is more dependable across several parts of the app.

Nimbus now gathers board information more reliably, flashing has clearer guidance, Air75 2 can be selected automatically, and binding provides better feedback so users are not left guessing whether anything is happening.

Smarter video setup

Nimbus can now detect the VRX channel from the drone automatically.

That removes a manual setup step and helps users get to a working video link with less configuration.

Why it matters

v2.3.0 is about reducing friction.

The release makes Nimbus safer during flight, clearer during setup, and more dependable when running routes.

Release context

This changelog entry is part of the Droneforge release archive for Nimbus and DF1. The archive helps builders understand how the autonomy stack has changed over time, including updates to setup, Nimbus App behavior, Python Library workflows, documentation, hardware notes, flight workflows, and community-facing product polish.

Older releases are still useful when comparing versions, debugging a local installation, or following the path from early drone connectivity work to current autonomous flight tooling. Use these notes as historical context alongside the current documentation, Nimbus App releases, and Python Library updates.

For current projects, compare these archived notes with the latest release before making setup decisions. Droneforge continues to refine how developers connect hardware, stream telemetry, inspect video, run agents, and build repeatable autonomy workflows.
